Acid Reflux Burping and Other Symptoms
Adult people suffer quite often with the acid reflux. There are many symptoms, including acid reflux burping and hiccups. Sometimes, the burping will bring up a sour, hot liquid. Another extremely common symptom of reflux is heartburn. This feels like a burning sensation in the chest, and can be extremely uncomfortable. Luckily there are a variety of ways to help prevent painful side effects and soothe the pain of acid reflux.
The best way how to start is to change feeding. Try to change your diet. By avoiding foods that are very acidic, like citrus and tomatoes, you can find relief. Garlic is another food that should be avoided because it weakens the lower esophageal sphincter muscle. The LES or lower esophageal sphincter muscle helps control the rising of acid in the esophagus. Another weakener of this muscle is smoking. Cigarettes are bad for your lungs, and now you know they are bad for acid reflux as well. Alcohol and dark chocolate are two more temptations that you should stay away from if you want to avoid reflux problems. This doesn't mean you have to abstain completely, but you should definitely cut the amount of trigger foods you are consuming.
Also GERD problems are well affected by healthy food and style of life. GERD is an abbreviation for gastroesophageal reflux disease and is a bit more serious condition than acid reflux because it is chronic and sometimes goes undiagnosed for longer periods. One reason is because some people think their pain is simple indigestion. Another reason is because some people who suffer from GERD do not have many symptoms, or may have symptoms like difficulty swallowing and the sensation of a throat lump that one may not associate with reflux.
Acid reflux burping and hiccups are very irritant states. They can be helped by avoiding foods and drinks worsening the problems If you experience a bout of indigestion try an antacid like Milk of Magnesia, Tums or Rolaids. Your doctor can prescribe you a PPI or proton pump inhibitor medication, which works by actually reducing the amount of acid produced in the first place. Also, try elevating the head of your bed if you experience reflux problems at night. Medical attention is recommended for any chronic case of acid reflux as complications can occur if this disease is left untreated.
